Mt. Makalu stands at a staggering elevation of 8463 m as the fifth-highest mountain in the world. It lies about 19 km southeast of Mount Everest (8848 m) in the Mahalangur Himalayas, on the border between Nepal and China, in a perfect pyramid shape with four sharp ridges.
